This Sunday, March 14, marks the season kickoff of San Francisco's Sunday Streets -- a series of free health- and community-oriented events urging people to enjoy car-free activities in different neighborhoods around the city. Certain areas are closed off to traffic so a wide variety of events can be enjoyed; you can download a route map and get more info at the Sunday Streets website.
This Sunday's event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. focuses on the Embarcadero, and the hub of activity is Harry Bridges Plaza (foot of Market, in front of Ferry Building) -- very close to the Embarcadero BART Station. Plan your trip using BART's QuickPlanner. The entire 3.3 mile route travels along the Embarcadero, from China Basin in Mission Bay to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Among the activities you can try:
* Bike rentals and maintenance check-ups
* Roller skating lessons and skate rentals
* Pedal-powered amusement rides
* Rock climbing wall
* Ventriloquism show and workshop
* Yoga
* Kayak lessons
