Cryptic math ad explained!

Rovi

We've had several questions from BART riders curious about an advertisement on trains that poses a math problem:

"Jacques Binet could have read this:

tq-gj*Z\YC=

Can you?"

Well, the ad has generated spirited discussions from math geeks on various blogs - one person hypothesized "the equation is encrypted text (perhaps the address of a website) that uses 'Jacques Binet' as a cipher key."

Some non-math-geeks just wanted to know: What the heck is it advertising for?

It turns out the ad is from Rovi Corporation, which might be looking to hire people smart enough to figure it out.

As always, we are glad to see customers noticing the ads in BART, since those ads bring in revenue to help run the system!
